Presented by Larry McHenry

An introduction to solar features visible on our nearest star, the Sun, and safe solar observing techniques, using both white-light and H-alpha solar filters. Additionally, we'll discuss where to go and how to observe the upcoming April 8th, 2024 Total Solar Eclipse. Afterwards, weather permitting, the author will setup outdoors a small solar telescope so that the audience can safely observe the Sun and any solar features visible that day.
South Hills resident Larry McHenry has been active in amateur astronomy for over 40 years, and is a member of the Kiski Astronomers, and the Oil Region Astronomical Society (ORAS) in Western Pennsylvania.
