Event Details
This is a hybrid book club in collaboration with our Older Adult Librarian. Students and older adults will get together to meet over lunch (lunch will be provided, but feel free to bring your own) and discuss Nic Stone's Clean Getaway, a middle-grade chapter book about a bi-racial boy who goes off on an adventure with his white grandmother, recreating a road trip that she and his grandfather (an interracial couple) took through the South in 1963. We'll meet four times to discuss the story and the history of the Civil Rights Movement. You can stop by the Children's Desk to find out what's for lunch and pick up a copy of the book to get started on reading. For the first meeting, please read Chapters 1-6.
For grades 4-6. Register once for the whole series beginning June 1st.
